The ODI series commence from March 2, 2019, in Hyderabad. It is going to be an important series for both the sides with ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 few months away now and teams will be looking to prepare for it.  The action after the first ODI, then moves to Nagpur on March 5 and then Ranchi on March 8. On March 10, Team India will play the fourth ODI in Mohali and then in Delhi on March 13. Even in 2017, the Australians toured India under the leadership of Steven Smith.  Earlier in the month of February and March as well, they were in India to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but suffered a defeat.

This will be the second ODI series between India and Australia in two months. Earlier, this year after the Test series on India's tour of Australia, the two sides met in the three-match ODI series. India won that series 2-1. Australia will now be looking to avenge that defeat.
