India had the edge over Australia as the umpires called off the proceedings on Day 1 in the fourth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The visiting team were cruising comfortably on 303/4 with Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari remaining not out on the crease. The Indian batting experienced another horrific start in the series after KL Rahul was dismissed cheaply in the first half hour. However, it was Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal who took the reins of the match in their control.

After the significant partnership, Mayank fell to a trap set by Nathan Lyon and missed out on a well-deserved century.
