ICC T20 World Cup 2020 was officially postponed by the cricket’s governing body. The T20 World Cup 2020 was scheduled to take place in Australia between October and November. As the tournament has been postponed to 2021, it has thrown window open for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to conduct the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020), which was earlier postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus. IPL 2020 was initially scheduled to begin in March. However, IPL 2020 will not be held in India. The T20 league will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as confirmed by the IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel. September 26 to November 08 has been earmarked as the tentative schedule for the IPL 2020. Indian fans are rejoicing the fact that IPL will be held this year, however, at the same time, some fans are upset with T20 World Cup- a global tournament- being cancelled. If IPL 2020 moves to UAE, it won’t be the first time that the league will take place in the Gulf country. In 2014, the first few matches of IPL were held in cities of Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi as it collided with general elections in India.
