The video posted by Sharma had quite an interesting caption which read, “There are approx. 3500 #Greateronehorned or #Indianrhinos in the world today; 82 percent of them in India. Join me to #batforrhinos on #worldrhinoday and support measures to protect these animals in the wild. Click the link in my bio to support the cause. @WWFIndia @animalplanetindia.” The campaign launches on September 22 and has pledged to do his bit.

#RohitforRhinos campaign also partners with WWF India and Animal Planet and aims to help build awareness for the need to conserve the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros or the Indian Rhino. The Indian vice-captain also hopes that this will inspire a lot of his fans to join the movement and they will also do their bit to save the species. The Indian rhinos are usually found in Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The species face a lot of threat due to poaching, habitat loss and mass mortality from inbreeding and disease.
