One of the best ever cricketers to born in the 20th century, Sir Don Bradman, was born on August 27 in 1908. The late Australian cricketer's birth anniversary is being observed by cricket fraternity today. Sir Donald George Bradman is widely considered as the greatest batsman of all time. 1. The former Australian captain was also known with nicknames such as The Don, The Boy from Bowral, Braddles, the White Headley.

2. Don Bradman practised cricket in his childhood alone with a cricket stump and a golf ball.

3. One of Bradman's great-grandfathers was among the first Italians to migrate to Australia in 1826.

4. Don Bradman had three sisters - Islet, Lilian and Elizabeth May and a brother Victor.

5. Don Bradman registered a 99.94 batting average in his Test career of 80 innings, one of the biggest achievements considered in cricket.

Bradman retired from cricket in 1948 and is still considered greatest batsman in Test cricket.  With 29 centuries and 13 half-centuries in 80 Test innings, he totally proved how powerful and efficient he was with the bat. He also hit 12 double centuries in his Test career. These are very brilliant consistency in batting to look upon. He also hit two triple hundreds in Test cricket with knocks of 334 and 304. Don once also played an unbeaten 299* run knock against South Africa. Bradman died on February 25, 2001 at the age of 92.
