Earlier in the match, India were put to bat by Australia. The hosts had a slow start but picked up after KL Rahul showed some aggression. The right-hander scored 47 off 26 balls. After Rahul’s dismissal, India lost way and were left tottering at 74 for three. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni then took over and not only helped India rebuild but finish on a high.

The duo added a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket and took India past 170-run mark which at one stage looked unlikely. Dhoni, who scored 40 off 23 balls, was then dismissed in the last over while Kohli finished unbeaten on 72 off just 38 balls.
