Wayne Rooney came down heavily on former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, after his former club registered a 5-1 victory over Cardiff City. The former United forward said the reason why Mourinho was not able to keep players onside was due to his poor man management skills. Rooney also revealed the reason why he left the club.

As per a report in BT Sport, Wayne Rooney said, “In my opinion, obviously being there for a year with him, he didn’t keep players onside.” The all-time top scorer for Manchester United also said that better communication with the players could have helped him. Wayne Rooney Scores an Unbelievable Free-Kick Goal to Help DC United Surge Ahead in Eastern Conference, Watch Video.

Rooney said, “The communication with the players wasn’t as much as it could have been. And I think when you leave a player out of a game; sometimes, for a player, it gives a bit of freedom of the mind when the manager says I’m leaving you out for this reason or for that reason.”

The former Red Devils’ star said that the players didn’t get any feedback on any issue, be it about their place in their side, or on what aspect a player should improve on. Jose Mourinho, Sacked From Manchester United, Says 'I Have Future Without the Football Club'

Rooney further added, “The players didn’t get that, and I think that’s the most difficult thing for a player to try and work out why you’re not playing. I think the big thing with Jose was the communication with the players, and I know the players weren’t happy with him.”

Speaking about him being dropped from the side, Rooney revealed, “There was nothing like, 'You’re not doing this, you’re not doing that', so you’re not given something to go and work on and make yourself better at those certain things.” Manchester United Sacks Jose Mourinho With Immediate Effect After Defeat at Liverpool.

Wayne Rooney also revealed that he wasn’t said anything in particular by Mourinho after he was dropped from the side. One of the factors that resulted in Rooney signing with his boyhood club Everton was Jose Mourinho’s lack of man management and communication skills that he has talked about.

So what changed Rooney’s mind to leave Manchester United after playing a year under Jose Mourinho? Answering it, he said, “I knew Zlatan was one of his big signings, Zlatan came in and was scoring goals, and I maybe wasn’t playing at the level I knew I could do so I knew that was the reason. And that was more or less what made my mind up to go and play elsewhere.” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Set to Replace Jose Mourinho; Manchester United Mulling To Appoint Him Interim Manager of the Club.
