Al-Nassr head coach Ange Postecoglou clarified that the interval substitution was pre-planned to manage the striker’s physical load, rather than a disciplinary measure or injury setback.

'Cristiano has not had much preparation, and the plan was always for him to play 45 minutes against Al-Ettifaq,' Postecoglou said. 'He played 30 minutes in the match before that, so we wanted to build him up gradually.
