Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir is on the cusp of securing a big victory from the East Delhi constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The former opener celebrated it with a tweet from his official social media account where he sledged his opponents from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Indian National Congress. 2019 Lok Sabha Election Results East Delhi: Harbhajan Singh Congrats Gautam Gambhir As the Former Cricketer Is Set for Big Win.

The ex-Indian cricketer is not new to sledging opponents, having engaged in several banters during his time in the cricket field and it looks like he has used his experience well to sledge two of his closest rivals.

Gambhir on Wednesday took a cheeky dig at both Arvinder Lovely and Atishi in his celebratory tweet. He mentioned that neither the “Lovely’ cover drive” nor the “Atishi ballebazzi (batting)” could stop him. It was only the "Gambhir ideology” of BJP which the people supported and helped win the seat. “Thanks a lot to all the @BJP4India and @BJP4Delhi team-mates for getting this mandate. We won’t fail people’s choice,” wrote the 37-year-old.

The left-handed opener, who retired from all forms of cricket on December last year, was given a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections. And although he faced two heavyweights in Atishi and Arvinder Singh Lovely, the former Indian opener is confirmed to claim a sliding victory by huge margins.

He also took to Twitter to declare that his party will clear away all the corruption from Delhi. Gambhir also mentioned that State Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost his conscience in this election and will also lose his state power in the next eight months (referring to the upcoming state elections in February 2020).

At the time of writing this story, BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir is ahead of closest rival Arvinder Singh by close to four lakh votes. Gambhir has received 663708 number of votes.
