It is Children’s Day today. Remembering India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation celebrates his birth anniversary by increasing awareness of the rights, care and education of the future generation. As promised by Google, the tech giant has featured the Doodle 4 Google winner. This year’s theme was what inspires you. Pingla Rahul More from Mumbai has received the significant number of votes among the age group of class 7 to 8. “What inspires me that most is Space Exploration. There is so much more to know about our Universe, from planets to stars to galaxies and beyond. It is inspiring to learn how small we are and our problems are in the grand scheme of things,” writes Rahul who is studying at J B Vachha High School. For the remaining age groups, the winners will be announced shortly. Throughout Bal Diwas, the beautiful creations that touched the voter’s heart will be featured. Google opened the contest in October and shortlisted 20 children for its annual Doodle 4 Google competition. From beautiful sight at the beach to nature’s tiny creatures, India’s farmer community to the Indian folk music, space exploration and many more, children drew what inspired them using crayons, clay and graphic designs. The winner will get Rs. 5 lakh college scholarship, Rs. 2 lakh technology packages for their school and a trip to the Google office in India among other prizes.
