Sriharikota, July 14: Chandrayaan-2 will be launched on Monday at 2:51 am from Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) launchpad in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Chandrayaan-2 is completely an indigenous mission. According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-2 will be injected into an Earth parking 170x40400 km orbit. The estimated cost of Chandrayaan-2 is Rs 603 crore, while its launcher GSLV MK-III costs Rs 375 crore. A series of maneuvers will be carried out to raise its orbit and put Chandrayaan-2 on Lunar Transfer Trajectory. On entering Moon's sphere of influence, on-board thrusters will slow down the spacecraft for Lunar Capture. Chandrayaan-1 was India’s maiden unmanned moon mission. After this mission, India became the fourth nation -- after the United States, China and Russia -- to successfully perform a "soft landing" on the moon.
