A former resident doctor has pleaded not guilty to 45 counts of s*xual assault allegedly committed against dozens of hospital patients under his care, including young children. Nathaniel Spencer, 39, entered his pleas at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court following a multi-year police investigation into his conduct across two West Midlands NHS trusts. The prosecution alleges that Spencer assaulted 38 female patients between 2017 and 2021. According to court disclosures, the full list of charges brought against the former doctor includes:
- 15 counts of s*xual assault
- 17 counts of assault by penetration

- Three counts of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration
- One count of attempted assault by penetration
The court clerk took nearly 15 minutes to read the extensive indictment, with prosecutors noting that the youngest alleged victims were aged six and seven at the time of the incidents.
