A 27-year-old resident of Oakland, California, has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges stemming from the s*x trafficking of a minor. Keynin McGee entered the guilty plea in the Eastern District of California following an investigation led by federal and state law enforcement agencies.

Case Background and Investigation Details

According to court documents, McGee connected with the minor victim via Instagram in 2021. After months of communication, he purchased a bus ticket for the victim to travel and meet him in person, reports the US Department of Justice. Upon her arrival, McGee picked her up from the bus station, provided her with clothing, and took her to a hotel. Investigators stated that he subsequently posted photographs of the victim on an online marketplace commonly used for commercial s*x advertising. RJ Mitte Dies: Did ‘Breaking Bad’ Star’s Fiancee Kennedy Suarez Force Actor To Choose Between Her and His Mother?

Authorities noted that McGee then transported the victim to outdoor areas in Oakland and San Francisco known for commercial s*x work, instructing her to solicit buyers in passing cars. As a result of this conduct, the minor victim engaged in commercial s*x acts with multiple individuals.

Law Enforcement Statements

Federal officials emphasised the collaborative nature of the investigation and the ongoing commitment to protecting vulnerable minors. “Exploiting a child for financial gain is reprehensible and heinous,” said Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. “Yesterday's guilty plea of Keynin McGee to s*x trafficking of a minor, who he lured to meet him in person then trafficked her for commercial s*x in the Oakland and San Francisco areas, reflects our commitment to protecting children from the scourge of s*x trafficking. The Criminal Division will continue to pursue and prosecute vile individuals who victimize and traffic minors," he added.

“This guilty plea illustrates the dedicated work of our law enforcement partners and prosecutors to investigate and stamp out s*x trafficking and to hold traffickers accountable,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Grant for the Eastern District of California. “Protecting vulnerable victims requires sustained collaboration, thorough investigations, and a commitment to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. We will continue working together to identify and support victims and bring to justice those who exploit them," Grant added.

“Keynin McGee reduced his young victim to a commodity to be bought and sold for his own gain,” said Special Agent in Charge Brian Tosh of FBI Sacramento. “Anyone who seeks to exploit children will face relentless pursuit from the FBI and our law enforcement partners. We will hold traffickers fully accountable for the harm they inflict. The investigation was conducted by the FBI with assistance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
