Made Fresh Salads Inc. of Bay Shore, New York, is recalling all ready-to-eat deli-style salads and cream cheese because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. The products were distributed directly to retail stores and distributors in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and elsewhere in New York City.
The recall includes dozens of deli salads, cream cheese flavors and spreads sold under the Made Fresh Salads and Northside labels. The products were distributed in 30-pound and 5-pound white plastic tubs and half-size aluminum pans. The affected salads carry expiration dates from September 3 through September 18, 2026, printed on the bottom left of the label. Why The Products Were Recalled
The recall was issued after environmental sampling by the FDA and the company revealed that some areas of the facility tested positive for Listeria Monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported to date. The company has ceased production and distribution of the products while the FDA and the company continue investigating what caused the contamination.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, particularly among young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Products Included In The Recall
The recall covers a broad range of Made Fresh Salads products, including black bean and corn salad, bruschetta, carrot and raisin salad, chickpea salad, Latin coleslaw, crab salad, eggplant caponata, seafood salads, shrimp salad, egg salad and mushroom salad. It also includes tuna, pasta, tortellini, quinoa, couscous, farro, orzo and other prepared salads.
Among the larger-format products are 30-pound containers of potato salad, macaroni salad and coleslaw. The recall additionally covers 7-pound chocolate pudding, 6-pound vanilla pudding, 12-piece potato croquettes and 12-piece crabcakes packaged in aluminum trays. The products may have been repacked by retail locations in deli-style or other retail packaging. Retail packaging and coding can therefore vary depending on where the products were purchased.
Cream Cheese Flavors Recalled
The cream cheese portion of the recall includes Made Fresh Salads 5-pound tubs of apple cinnamon, blueberry, bacon scallion, chocolate chip, garlic and herb, jalapeno, jalapeno cheddar, lox, olive pimento, scallion, strawberry, vegetable, walnut and whipped cream cheese.
Made Fresh Salads tofu spread and tofu vegetable spread are also included. The recall further covers 30-pound containers of scallion cream cheese and whipped cream cheese. Under the Northside label, the recalled products include 5-pound tubs of garlic and herb, lox, scallion, strawberry, vegetable and walnut raisin cream cheese, as well as tofu spread.

Customers who have purchased Made Fresh Salads are urged to return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers should check their refrigerators and other storage areas for affected products, including items that may have been repackaged by retailers. What Is Known About The Listeria Risk
Listeria contamination does not necessarily cause food to look, smell or taste spoiled. The bacteria can cause listeriosis, an infection that may become serious in vulnerable groups. The FDA says healthy individuals can experience symptoms including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
The current recall follows an earlier Made Fresh Salads recall announced in February 2026 involving assorted cream cheese flavors and tofu spread. That earlier recall was linked to Listeria contamination found in part of a mixer used to manufacture finished products. The FDA later marked that recall as completed and terminated.
The September recall is broader, covering all ready-to-eat deli-style salads and cream cheese produced by the company. Recent reporting has also noted that this is another Listeria-related recall involving the Bay Shore facility.
Made Fresh Salads has stopped production and distribution while the investigation continues. At this stage, the FDA and company have identified positive environmental samples within areas of the facility, but the recall notice does not identify a specific source of the contamination. No illnesses had been reported when the recall was announced.
Consumers who may have purchased the affected products should rely on the product information and expiration dates provided in the recall notice and return any recalled items rather than consuming them.
