On December 20, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in the Panama papers case. Reportedly, ED recorded Aishwarya, megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law’s statement in Delhi over matters related to the wealth abroad. The actor had been summoned earlier as well but she had twice asked for more time. The probe agency started investigating allegations of foreign exchange violations in 2016. ED had issued notices to the Bachchan family asking them to explain their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the Reserve Bank of India.
