Army Day (India) 2024: Date, History & Significance Of The Day When KM Cariappa Became The First Indian Commander-In-Chief Of The Army

Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to honour and salute the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. This day is important as it commemorates the day when General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher on January 15, 1949. This day marks the transfer of power from the British to an Indian officer. This year, India will mark the 76th anniversary of Army Day. Parades and other military shows are held across the country to celebrate this special day.
