Coronavirus Lockdown: UK, Italy, Spain, France, Canada Go For A Second Lockdown After Second Wave Of COVID-19

Italy became the latest European country to announce new restrictions to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. The announcement came on October 25 as countries across the continent continued to report surging infections. France on October 25 announced more than 50,000 new infections, a new record for the fourth day running. Germany, widely lauded for its initial handling of the virus, reported a surge of its own. Spain declared a national state of emergency on October 25 and a curfew for the entire country except the Canary Islands to curb a second wave of coronavirus cases. The World Health Organization reported new daily case records worldwide three days in a row last week. New infections reached more than 465,000 on October 24. UK recorded 19,790 new cases on October 25. The country's death toll remains the highest in Europe, rising by 151 to 44,896. The United States set a new record on October 23 with more than 82,000 confirmed new infections. Canadian public health officials are warning residents to stay home as much as possible, saying the next few weeks will be critical to the country's efforts to contain COVID-19. In September, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared that a second wave of coronavirus was already underway in most of the country. Meanwhile, India recorded 79,09,959 cases with 1,19,014 deaths. There are 4,29,71,161 cases being reported globally with 11,53,470 deaths.
