International Men’s Day is celebrated annually just like International Women’s Day, but it is not an official observance. This day focuses on raising awareness about men’s rights issues and encourages men to be more open, and vulnerable and steer away from all the stereotypes of how society expects men to be. It is observed on November 19 every year after Jerome Teelucksingh revived the observance to honour his father’s birthday. It was earlier celebrated on February 7 since 1992.
