Kangana Ranaut has hit back at Jaya Bachchan's speech in the Parliament against people pointing fingers at the industry over various issues. Bachchan, one of the iconic actors in the Bollywood of the '70s, had made a statement in parliament, refuting actor and fellow MP Ravi Kishan and Kangana Ranaut's claims of drug abuse in film industry. Jaya Bachchan had said that people who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. She slammed people who criticise the same industry which have made their careers, using the 'jis thali mein khate hain usmein chhed karte hain' analogy, without naming the individuals. Kangana tweeted in response to Jaya's statement and wrote in Hindi, "Which thali has Jaya ji and her industry given?” She also went on to say that, “we got one thali which had a two-minute role, item numbers and one romantic scene, that too after sleeping with the hero”. Actor Swara Bhaskar lashed out at Kangana Ranaut. "Sickening" and "shameful" was how actor described the comments of Kangana. Actor-politician Urmila Matondkar also lashed out at Kangana. Matondkar pointed out that if Ranaut did indeed have information about illegal drugs in Bollywood should look to her state, Himachal Pradesh and would be better served by going to the authorities rather than tweeting about it. Meanwhile, actor & BJP politician Jaya Prada has endorsed BJP MP Ravi Kishan’s comments about the scourge of drugs, and has said that Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan is politicising the issue. Security has been increased at Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's home a day after she made the comments in the Parliament. Mumbai Police has provided the additional security outside Jalsa, the Bachchans' iconic bungalow in Juhu.
