On May 25, Kapil Sibal, former Union Minister, revealedย that he has quit the Congress party. Sibal made the announcement soon after filing his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate supported by the Samajwadi Party (SP), reported NDTV.ย โ€œI had tendered my resignation from the Congress party on 16th May,โ€ Sibal said as reported by ANI.ย โ€œI had a deep relationship with the Congress. It was for 30-31 years. โ€œThis is not a small thing,โ€ย Sibal said as reported by NDTV.ย With Kapil Sibalโ€™s resignation, five leaders have left the Congress partyย in five months. Jitin Prasada, Uttar Pradesh Minister, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP in June last year took a swipe at Sibal.
