Congress President Rahul Gandhi accepted the defeat handed to him by the BJP and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening for his re-election. The 48-year-old also conceded defeat in Amethi, and asked his political opponent and BJP leader Smriti Irani to "nurture with love" the constituency that has been his family stronghold for nearly four decades. The Gandhi scion has also offered to resign as the INC president but there’s no word on it from the Congress high command.
