PM Narendra Modi Quits Weibo, Deletes All Posts & Profile Picture From Chinese Microblogging Site

INDIA Team Latestly|

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Weibo account went blank on July 1. This comes after 59 Chinese Apps were banned by the government of India. PM's profile photo, posts and comments have been removed from the Twitter-like account. Reportedly, PM Modi decided to delete his account on June 28 but the process for deleting VIP accounts on China's largest microblogging site is complex. So 115 posts on PM Modi’s Weibo account had to be manually deleted. Weibo does not allow users to delete their accounts; only the platform can do so. As far as posts are concerned, each has to be opened & manually deleted, which makes it a very tedious process. Two posts could still not be deleted as they featured PM Modi's pictures with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Reports suggest the Chinese app cannot delete pictures of their President easily. PM Modi joined Weibo in 2015, just before his visit to China. He had a verified account with 2,44,000 followers. PM Modi used the account to wish Xi Jinping on his birthday on June 15 but this year, gave it a miss.
