Basant Panchami i.e. the arrival of the spring season according to the Hindu calendar is being marked on February 16. On this day the Goddess of knowledge – Saraswati is worshipped across many states of North India such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal. Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Magha (which typically falls in late January or February).
