From July 1, India implemented a ban on a slew of single-use plastic (SUP) products. This ban adds to the earlier restriction on lightweight plastic bags of thickness less than 75 microns. This move is to counter and reduce the millions of metric tonnes of discarded plastic waste generated annually in the country. India is among the top 100 SUP waste generators. In order to reduce reliance on single-use plastic items used in every-day life, here are more eco-friendly options that are made from recyclable materials. From replacing plastic tooth-brush to the cutlery used with take-away food, plastic alternatives are already in the market.
