The Time of Remembrance and Reconciliation for Those Who Lost Their Lives during the Second World War is an international observance. On this day, people pay tributes to the victims of World War II. The observance begins on May 8, the anniversary of the date when the World War II Allies accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany and this observance ends on May 9. The day was designated by Resolution 59/26 of the United Nations General Assembly on November 22, 2004. In Ukraine, May 8 has been designated as a day of Remembrance and Reconciliation since 2015.
