In India, Vijay Diwas is commemorated on December 16 annually. On this day, India’ victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war is celebrated. It led to the creation of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the day is celebrated as Bijoy Diwas. The 1971 war started on December 3 and ended 13 days later on December 16. India won the war and the Pakistan Army surrendered unconditionally.
