One Dead as Fire Engulfs Popular Resort
According to the Dominican Republic Foreign Ministry, a 46-year-old Italian woman died in the fire. Officials have not yet confirmed the total number of injuries or whether any guests or staff were trapped during the emergency.

Emergency Response Underway
Witnesses told local media that the fire spread rapidly and initially overwhelmed available firefighting resources. Additional emergency units were later deployed to the scene.
ABC News reported that at least 15 firefighting units were involved in efforts to bring the blaze under control.
Cause of Fire Yet to Be Determined
Authorities have not identified the cause of the fire. Investigators are expected to launch a formal inquiry once emergency operations are completed and the affected sections of the resort are deemed safe.
The Viva Dominicus Bayahibe resort, operated in collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, is located along one of the Dominican Republic's most popular tourism corridors between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana.
