The prestigious medal of honour was presented during a high-profile ceremony at the Istana Merdeka Presidential Palace in Jakarta, marking a major milestone in the diplomatic relationship between the two maritime neighbours.

Prime Minister Modi received the award on the opening day of his official three-day state visit to Indonesia, running from July 6 to 8.
