Washington, June 25: With Sarah sanders departing from the Donald Trump administration, Stephanie Grisham, the incumbent spokeswoman of First Lady Melania Trump, has been appointed as the next White House Press Secretary. She would also hold the additional charge of White House Communications Director, succeeding Bill Shine -- who had demitted the post in March this year.

As part of her duel authority, Grisham would not only be responsible for attending the press and arranging the President's briefings with the media, but would also accompany Trump on his foreign visits, including the upcoming official tours to South Korea and Japan. Donald Trump Clears Air on His Meghan Markle Remark, Says ‘I Never Called Her Nasty’

Melania, whose communication with the press has been managed by Grisham since 2015, expressed delight on the latter being chosen for the crucial job by her husband.

"I am pleased to announce @StephGrisham45 will be the next @PressSec & Comms Director! She has been with us since 2015 - @POTUS & I can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country. Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the @WhiteHouse. #BeBest (sic)," Melania said on social media.

Grisham's appointment was necessitated due to the exit of Sarah Sanders. The latter, despite being on good terms with the President, decided to curtail her term claiming that she needs to devote more time to her three young kids.

At the farewell ceremony on Friday, President Trump described her as a "warrior" who handled her job at the White House with utmost efficiency. "She is a fine, fine lady," he added.
