Mumbai, September 25: An Amazon employee died during a work shift at the company's Swansea warehouse on Tuesday. On September 20, the man was working at the Ffordd Amazon location off Fabian Way in the UK. He was brought to Morriston Hospital, but he died there. The internet retailer, which established its 832,000 square foot fulfilment centre in Swansea Bay in 2007, said it will now conduct a "thorough investigation" into the incident, which was attended by two ambulances.

We were summoned at 11.39 pm on September 20 to reports of an incident at Ffordd Amazon in Swansea. Two emergency ambulances and one Cymru high-acuity response unit paramedic were dispatched to the location, and one person was taken to Morriston Hospital for further treatment, a Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson told the local media.

Previously, the US authorities initiated an inquiry into the death of a 20-year-old Amazon warehouse worker in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Caes Gruesbeck was slain on May 9 while working at the FWA4 warehouse. When his head was impacted, Gruesbeck was attempting to clear a clog on an overhead conveyor. According to witnesses, the incident occurred when Gruesbeck was operating a one-man lift. As per an Amazon spokesperson, the worker hit his head on an overhead conveyance system while operating the one-man lift below it. The worker was wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, such as a hard helmet and fall protection, said the company. Later, Amazon sent workers home with pay and cancelled scheduled shifts following the incident before reopening the warehouse on May 12.
