Jakarta [Indonesia], August 29 (ANI): Indian athlete Arpinder Singh on Wednesday clinched a gold medal in Men's Triple Jump event of the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.

The 25-year-old finished on top of the podium with a brilliant mark of 16.77m in the final round of the event.

While Ruslan Kurbavov of Uzbekistan settled for the silver medal with a mark of 16.62m, Chinese athlete Shuo Cao finished third with a jump of 16.56m.

Rakesh Babu, another Indian in the fray, finished on the sixth position with a final effort of 16.40m.

In men's 1500m athletics event, India's Manjit Singh and Jinson Johnson qualified for the final round. After picking up a gold and silver medal respectively in the 800m athletics event, the duo will now be eyeing a podium finish in 1500m event, as well.

India's total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 53-ten gold, 20 silver and 23 bronze. (ANI)
