Delhi Police Chief Holds Meeting with Top Brass Ahead of I-Day

New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) The Delhi Police chief on Tuesday held an inter-state coordination meeting with top brass of the department to review security arrangement ahead of the Independence Day celebrations here.

The main objective of the meeting was to share terror-related intelligence and inputs about various extremist outfits and their plan to disturb peace in the prevailing situation, a statement from the department said.

The meeting chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik was attended by senior officers of Delhi Police and their counterparts from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan, it said.

"Patnaik laid stress on increasing police presence, intensive and coordinated checking at vulnerable points beside other preventive measure like tenant verification, guest house checking, sensitization of cyber café owners, second-hand car dealers etc in order to counter terrorism," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.

Traffic restrictions during the Independence Day and steps to check unauthorised intrusion at borders were planned and officers of other states were requested to cooperate for ensuring the implementation, he said.
