New Delhi, Aug 2 (PTI) The BJP-led East Delhi Municipal Corporation has sought help of cricketer-turned-parliamentarian Gautam Gambhir to revamp a sports complex in Trilokpuri, which has been lying idle for almost six years, officials said on Friday.

Chairman of the EDMC's Standing Committee Sandeep Kapoor on Friday inspected the sports complex, located in ward No. 2 in the Trilokpuri area, they said.

"The complex has been closed for almost six years. It has a big open area, including tennis and badminton courts, which are lying idle without maintenance," the EDMC said in a statement.

"I had a telephone conversation with East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir with the intention of developing the sports complex from the MPLAD fund," Kapoor was quoted as saying in the statement.

In response, Gambhir immediately sent a team to inspect the sports complex, Kapoor claimed.

The chairman of the standing committee said EDMC has a sports complex but not able to develop it properly due to "fund crunch".
