A photography exhibition on the theme 'Joy of Freedom' was inaugurated on Monday at Kala Sutra Art Studio and Gallery at the City Delegacies of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), showcasing students' creative expressions of freedom through photographs and paintings.
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 24 (ANI): A photography exhibition on the theme 'Joy of Freedom' was inaugurated on Monday at Kala Sutra Art Studio and Gallery at the City Delegacies of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), showcasing students' creative expressions of freedom through photographs and paintings.
The exhibition has been organised as part of the celebrations of the 80th Independence Day of the country. Students were invited to submit photographs and paintings reflecting their thoughts, feelings and creative interpretations of the theme, as per the press release.

More than 130 entries were received for the photography exhibition, of which works by 65 selected students are being displayed. The photographs highlight different aspects of freedom, Indian life, culture, nature, society and human emotions, offering varied perspectives on the meaning of freedom.
The exhibition also features 10 paintings selected from an earlier painting competition organised as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations. The paintings showcase the diverse colours of freedom and creative expression.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Professor Uttama Dixit, Dean, Faculty of Visual Arts, BHU. She appreciated the theme and praised the exhibits. Renowned photographer Manish Khatri attended as the Chief Guest, while Professor Ranjan Kumar Singh, Dean of Students, BHU, was the Guest of Honour.
Students from various faculties of BHU participated in the event. Prof Ranjan Kumar Singh and Manish Khatri appreciated the university's efforts to provide students with platforms to showcase their talent through co-curricular activities.
Sunil Choudhary, Head of the Department of Radiotherapy, and Dr (Maj.) Rubir, along with other judges, evaluated the photographs.
The guests also viewed the photographs on display and appreciated the creative efforts of the students. The exhibition highlights photography not only as a medium of visual documentation but also as a means of expressing ideas, experiences and emotions.
Professor Lalit Mohan Aggarwal, Warden, City Delegacies, welcomed the guests. University teachers, research scholars, students and art enthusiasts were also present.

The 'Joy of Freedom' Photography Exhibition will be held from August 24 to 31 at Kala Sutra Art Studio and Gallery. It will remain open to visitors daily from 11 am to 4 pm. (ANI)
