Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 1 (PTI) A former village head has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

Udayvir (60) took the extreme step on Monday evening at his house in Umerpur village under the Khatoli police station area, they added.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

The police have lodged a case in connection with the incident.

According to the wife of the deceased, Udayvir was worried over a bank loan he had taken. The bank had recently served a notice on him.
