Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso has announced that he would bid adieu to racing at the end of the ongoing season.
Madrid (Spain), Aug 15 (ANI): Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso has announced that he would bid adieu to racing at the end of the ongoing season.
Announcing the news, the 37-year-old McLaren driver said that it is a right time for him to move on after spending 17 wonderful years in this amazing sport.
"After 17 wonderful years in this amazing sport, it's time for me to make a change and move on. I have enjoyed every single minute of those incredible seasons and I cannot thank enough the people who have contributed to make them all so special," news.com.au quoted Alonso, as saying.
Considered as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers, Alonso won the F1 world championship titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006.
In a career spanning 17 years, McLaren appeared for 302 career races. He won 22 pole positions, 32 races besides also making a staggering 97 finishes. (ANI)
