Home Dept Instructs DMs to Run Special Campaign to Inspect Arms Shops

The Uttar Pradesh government's Home Department has instructed all the district magistrates to run a month-long special campaign to inspect arms shops so that effective steps could be taken to ensure that celebratory firing is curbed.

Lucknow, Aug 26 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government's Home Department has instructed all the district magistrates to run a month-long special campaign to inspect arms shops so that effective steps could be taken to ensure that celebratory firing is curbed.

In a statement issued here, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said directions have been issued to all the district magistrates to inspect arms shops, and subsequently submit their reports to the state government.

Instructions for the special campaign from September 1 to September 30 have been issued to all the DMs, the statement said.

Apart from this, instructions have also been issued to strictly monitor and follow the rules pertaining to approval of arm's licence, purchase of ammunition and stopping misuse of weapons deposited in safe custody, the statement said.
