Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], October 24 (ANI): The Punjab BJP on Thursday expelled party leader and former MLA Satkar Kaur for six years, a day after she was arrested in a drugs case.
Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin said in a statement issued here on Thursday that Kaur has been expelled on the directions of Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar.
As per reports, Kaur and her nephew were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly trying to peddle heroin in Mohali's Kharar.
Satkar Kaur represented the Ferozepur Rural constituency in the Assembly from 2017-2022. But the Congress denied her a ticket in the 2022 Assembly polls after which she joined the BJP.

The BJP on Tuesday announced three candidates, including former state minister Manpreet Badal, for the November 13 bypolls to assembly seats in Punjab.
The bypolls to four assembly seats -- Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Barnala -- were necessitated after MLAs representing them were elected to the Lok Sabha.
BJP leader and former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal has been fielded from the Gidderbaha assembly seat, according to the party's list of candidates.
Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon will contest from Dera Baba Nanak and Kewal Singh Dhillon from Barnala.
The by-polls on 48 constituencies are spread over 15 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
The counting of votes will take place on November 23. (ANI)
