New Delhi [India], July 7 (ANI): The Blind Relief Association (BRA), in collaboration with Torchit Electronics Pvt. Ltd., launched a range of AI-powered assistive technologies, including the Wireless Jyoti AI Vision Glasses, Jyoti AI Web, Advanced Foldable Smart White Cane, EnableMart Experience and Resource Center, and the EnableMart Assistive Technology Resource Book, to enhance accessibility, inclusive education, and independent living for persons with visual impairments.

The event was inaugurated by Manmeet Kaur Nanda, Additional Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, according to a release. In her address, she highlighted that assistive technology is key to education, employment, mobility, and dignity, and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to promoting AI-enabled assistive technologies through the upcoming Divyang Sahara Yojana and the vision of the Purple Economy.

Hunny Bhagchandani, Founder and Director, Torchit Electronics Pvt. Ltd., showcased Torchit's latest innovations, including the Wireless Jyoti AI Vision Glasses, Jyoti AI Web, and the Advanced Foldable Smart White Cane, emphasising Torchit's mission of empowering persons with disabilities through affordable, indigenous, AI-powered assistive technologies.

He also introduced the EnableMart Experience and Resource Centre, the EnableMart Assistive Technology Resource Book, and highlighted the importance of Talking and Tactile Books in promoting inclusive education.

Welcoming the gathering, David, Executive Secretary, Blind Relief Association, New Delhi, described the collaboration with Torchit as a significant step towards making assistive technology more affordable, accessible, and impactful, while strengthening inclusive education and rehabilitation services.

Homiyar Mobedji, CEO, Torchit Foundation, spoke about the growing role of artificial intelligence in making education, information, and daily living more accessible for persons with visual impairments.

He emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts between technology innovators, educators, healthcare professionals, and civil society to build an inclusive ecosystem.

Suraj Senjam, Professor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, stressed the need for affordable 'Make in India' assistive technologies and highlighted AIIMS' collaboration with Torchit in conducting user evaluations to further improve AI-based solutions for persons with visual impairments.

The event concluded with a live demonstration of the Wireless Jyoti AI Vision Glasses and Jyoti AI Web, reaffirming the shared commitment of the Government, healthcare institutions, innovators, and civil society to build a more accessible, inclusive, and empowered India. (ANI)
