Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 27 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) General Secretary T Jeevan Reddy on Tuesday criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to Maharashtra for discussions with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the Tummidihatti barrage issue, saying the meeting had yielded "no achievement" and that both states continued to stick to their respective proposals.

Speaking to ANI, Jeevan Reddy said there was nothing new in the Chief Minister’s visit, alleging that Telangana’s demands remained unchanged despite the meeting.

“CM's visit to Maharashtra was nothing new and no development... Today also, Maharashtra is sticking to their own proposal. Telangana, we are sticking to our own proposal, making our own demand. And there is nothing new, and there is no achievement,” he said.

The BRS leader also questioned the progress made by the state government, pointing out that three years of its tenure had already passed, with only two years remaining.

“Already, three years have passed. Only two years are left. Revanth Reddy wants to pass on these two years. Already three years that has been almost more than 30 months he has slept,” Jeevan Reddy said.

The remarks came after Revanth Reddy on Monday met his Maharashtra counterpart, Devendra Fadnavis, to discuss the Tummidihatti barrage issue. A Telangana delegation led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Sahyadri State Guest House in Mumbai.

Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Chief Secretaries of both states and senior officials of the Irrigation Departments participated in the meeting.

According to the Telangana Chief Minister's Office, the two sides held detailed discussions on the construction of the Tummidihatti Barrage across the Pranahita River on the Telangana-Maharashtra border, including the proposed enhancement of the barrage height, water availability, submergence implications and other technical aspects.

CM Revanth Reddy urged Maharashtra to extend its cooperation in a spirit of friendship, brotherhood and mutual understanding, keeping in view the larger objective of developing backward regions and improving the lives of tribal communities.

Responding to Telangana's request, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed a positive approach towards reconsidering the proposed enhancement of the Tummidihatti Barrage height.

He recalled his close personal and cultural association with Telangana and the Adilabad border region. He also mentioned that his grandmother speaks Telugu.

CM Fadnavis acknowledged the developmental needs of the region and expressed his willingness to revisit Telangana's request. (ANI)
