Pune (Maharashtra) [India], October 17 (ANI): Two twin toddlers died, and both of their parents were injured after the two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a petrol tanker in the Vishrantwadi area of Maharashtra's Pune on Monday, police said.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 5.00 pm.

A 40-year-old man, Satish Jha, was riding a two-wheeler with his three and a half-year-old twin daughters and wife as pillions.

A petrol tanker hit the bike from behind at the Vishrantwadi Chowk signal just after the signal turned green, the police said.

Officials said that the twin toddlers died in the accident, while their parents were injured. The mother sustained serious injuries to her leg. She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The father also received minor injuries in the accident.

A case has been registered and the tanker driver has also been arrested, they said adding that further investigation is underway. (ANI)
