Man Wanted in Rape Case Arrested After 11 Years

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a man who was wanted in a 2007 rape case. Akhtar, accused of kidnapping and raping a minor was on a run for more than 11 years.

New Delhi [India], Nov 30 (ANI): The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a man who was wanted in a 2007 rape case. Akhtar, accused of kidnapping and raping a minor was on a run for more than 11 years.

The rape case was registered at Kapashera police station in the year 2007 and Akhtar was declared Proclaim Offender (PO) in the year 2008. Later, in the year 2014, cash reward of Rs. 25,000 was also announced by the police on his arrest.

In June 2007, the complainant lodged an FIR in Kapashera Police Station alleging that his 14-year-old daughter was kidnapped by Akhtar.

During the investigation, the kidnapped minor girl was rescued from Bihar and was handed over to her parents.

After further investigation, on the basis of the version of the prosecutor, the accused was also booked for rape. (ANI)
