Mohali, Apr 26 (PTI) Swaraj Tractors, part of the USD 19 billion Mahindra Group, launched the second phase of its 'Mahindra Swaraj mobile primary health and cancer care project' here today.
Swaraj Tractors has pledged over Rs 2 crore for this corporate social responsibility initiative in the districts of Patiala and Bathinda.
The launch of this initiative at its head office here was attended by Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Animal Husbandry Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.
The firm has taken up the cause to spread awareness about cancer by providing palliative care (home care) services free of cost to the poor and terminally ill cancer patients in 30 villages across Punjab in 2015, a company spokesman said.
Based on its success, the project has now been extended to Bathinda and Patiala districts.
Viren Popli, COO Swaraj Division, said this project would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of cancer patients.
"As a responsible corporate citizen, it is a constant endeavour of Swaraj Tractors to serve the society at large," he added.
The duration of this project is 72 months and around Rs 2.25 crore will be spent for this cause.
