Chennai, Aug 2 (PTI) Varun Kumar of MCC packed off Anuj Uppal of Delhi, beating him by four frames to two in the pre-quarterfinals of the Q-Lounge all-India Open Snooker Championship 2019 here Friday.

Varun went up by two frames to nil before the Delhi cueist pulled one back.

He took the fourth and Anuj mounted a brief comeback to claim the fifth.

The city player closed out the match, winning the sixth frame to set up a last eight clash against Girish of Railways.

National Junior No 2 Kreish Gurbuxani of Maharashtra put up a good fight against experienced Ashutosh Padhy of Odisha, before losing 2-4.

Top-seed Laxman Rawat of PSPB thrashed Hari Rajamani of TNBSA 4-0 to sail into the last eight.

Quarterfinals lineup: Laxman Rawat vs Ashutosh Padhy, Rafath Habib vs Pandurangaiah, Girish vs Varun Kumar, Dilip Kumar vs Yogesh Kumar.
