Ducati has officially revealed the Desmo450 SM, expanding its racing platform into the supermoto category following its debut at World Ducati Week. The competition-focused motorcycle translates the brand's engineering prowess from the dirt track into a specialized asphalt-ripping machine built strictly for closed-circuit performance.

The new model adopts a lightweight design philosophy while integrating race-proven components. Ducati Desmo450 SM Specifications and Features

The Ducati Desmo450 SM is powered by a 449.6cc single-cylinder desmodromic engine that delivers a claimed 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.6 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, featuring a rev ceiling of 11,900 rpm. The motor is paired with a five-speed gearbox utilising a Suter slipper clutch and an active upshift-only quickshifter. Built around an aluminium twin-spar frame, the chassis accommodates a 7.2-litre fuel tank and carries a wet weight without fuel of 109 kg.

Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable 49mm Showa closed-cartridge front fork with Kashima coating offering 280mm of travel, and a fully adjustable rear Showa monoshock with progressive linkage providing 295mm of wheel travel. Braking hardware consists of a 310mm floating Galfer front disc paired with a Brembo Stylema radial caliper and a PR15x19 radial master cylinder, alongside a 240mm rear Galfer disc with a Brembo floating caliper.

The motorcycle rolls on 16.5-inch front and 17-inch rear Takasago Excel aluminium rims fitted with tubeless Bartubeless technology, wrapped in Metzeler Racetec Slick SM tires sized 125/75 R16.5 and 165/55 R17 respectively. Its electronics suite includes two riding modes, Ducati Traction Control with four slip-estimation levels, Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, and X-Link app integration.
