Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the new generation Maruti Ertiga MPV in India today at an event in New Delhi. The second generation Maruti Ertiga will carry bold design, new stylish elements and host of new upgrades as well as all-new equipment. Based on Suzuki's popular Heartect platform, the new Ertiga 2018 will be more fuel efficient and safer. Moreover, it is the same platform which underpins 2018 Swift and Dzire sub-4m sedan. The Indo-Japanese car maker is already taking bookings for the new Ertiga 2018 with token amount of Rs 11,000. Maruti's popular LUV (Life Utility Vehicle) will also get a new 1.5-litre petrol engine that is already seen on Ciaz mid-sized sedan. Once launched, the new Ertiga MPV will be pitted against the likes of Mahindra Marazzo in the MPV space. On the exterior front, the new Ertiga will get a bold chrome pixel grille, bigger projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, stylish alloy wheels, LED tail lights and much more. On the inside, the new Ertiga will get a new cabin with a smart interior, which will be inspired by the car maker's new range of cars. The MPV will also features a new infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For added safety, the new MPV will be equipped with host of features like ABS with EBD and dual-airbags as standard. The new Ertiga will also get ESP and Hill Hold function. As far as the engine specifications are concerned, the new 2018 Maruti Ertiga will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine will be the new 1.5-litre K-series unit that is also seen on Ciaz sedan. The diesel engine will be the same tried-and-tested 1.3-litre DDIS unit. Both the powertrains will be offered with updated mild hybrid system - SHVS. The transmission duties on the new Ertiga will be carried out by manual and automatic units.
