New Delhi, August 27: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has released the August 2026 pension payment early for more than 4.4 lakh beneficiaries in Kerala ahead of the Onam festivities. A total of 440,901 pensioners across the Kerala zone received their monthly pension on August 26, the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment said.

The early EPFO pension payment was made to ensure that pensioners and their families had access to funds during the festive period. The payment coincided with Thiruvonam, the main day of the Onam celebrations in Kerala.

EPFO Releases August Pension Before Month-End

However, EPFO advanced the August pension disbursement in Kerala because of the multi-day Onam festival. The move was aimed at providing beneficiaries with timely access to their pension for household and festival-related expenses.

The pension amount was transferred directly into beneficiaries' linked bank accounts through the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS).

Why Did EPFO Release Pension Early In Kerala?

The early pension release was specifically intended to support pensioners during the Onam festive period. With Onam being one of Kerala's major festivals, the advance payment gives beneficiaries access to their pension before the usual end-of-month payment schedule.
