Zomato Layoffs: 250 Jobs Cut as Hyderabad Support Unit Shuts Down

Food delivery major Zomato has closed its customer support operations in Hyderabad, resulting in approximately 250 employees losing their jobs. The decision comes as part of an internal restructuring strategy aimed at consolidating in-house support functions at the company headquarters while delegating a larger portion of customer care responsibilities to third-party vendors.

As per a report by Economic Times, the closure follows a six-month review of Zomato's customer support operating model. Zomato Severance Package and Support Operations

As per a report by Times of India, affected employees will receive their August salary alongside four months of compensation, covering contractual notice pay and a one-time ex-gratia distribution. Medical insurance and counselling support will remain active until March 31, 2027. Zomato Temple Wearable Device Update

In related developments, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal provided an operational update regarding the upcoming Temple wearable device. The hardware has been redesigned to less than half its original volume, making it the most compact wearable on the market by volume. Goyal confirmed that pre-orders for the limited launch edition will open soon, with shipments planned before the end of 2026.
