According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the confrontation began due to a dispute over seating after the individual was found occupying a reserved air-conditioned coach seat despite holding a sleeper-class ticket while travelling toward Surat.
When railway staff and RPF personnel, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaminikant Mishra, intervened to resolve the seat dispute, the situation escalated into a physical altercation.
