The film has been trending the best in Maharashtra and now this waiver will help it earn more. It has already earned Rs 183.34 crore. It seems Tanhaji will be able to hit the Rs 200 crore mark this weekend quite easily, thanks to this. On January 15, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat had informed that state cabinet had decided to make the film tax-free. Tanhaji has already received a tax-free status in Haryana and SGST free in UP. But this will be gamechanger because the film is anyway earning a lot from Maharashtra. The story is also about Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's trusted general Tanhaji Malsure who fought bravely for the Marathas. So it was waiting to happen anyway.

Ex-CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis had written a letter to the present Government of the state to give Tanhaji the tax-free status.
